Many of you know Flash (born May 2018), the shy brown gelding with playful bead-like eyes, a dark nose, and a bent (boomerang-shaped) front leg. Due to a deficiency in vitamins and minerals, his skeleton is not as strong as it should be.

Flash has been in our rescue since 2024. Until recently, his condition was stable. He befriended Sjaak and Vliet, and gets along very well with Olaf too. Unfortunately, over the past few weeks, we have noticed changes. He walks less, lies down more, has trouble standing up, and regularly gives way through one of his hind legs. The bend in his front leg is becoming more pronounced, which makes walking even harder for him.

How much time does Flash have left?

We knew from the moment we took him in that Flash wouldn’t reach a high age with his weakened skeleton. It is hard to determine how quickly his situation will deteriorate and how much discomfort he experiences from it. Just as we do for Sjaak, Yade, and Zayid, we are starting Flash on pain management with CBD oil. Twice a day, he receives a small handful of pellets topped with 15 drops of 30% CBD oil (THC-free).
